I love food…..good food….fresh food. And remember healthy food is good for you and tastes good too. It is good to enjoy your food and to chew your food.
Take your time …think a lot…..and chew your food with everything you’ve got for you will still be here tomorrow but that food you are chewing will not. So chew and chew and chew your food until it is like baby food.
Let me ask you this one question. Do you chew your food until it is like baby food?
FOOD FACTS
FACT 1: Chew Your Food
CHEW it ...CHEW it....CHEW it.....Chew your food until it is like baby food.
Why? ...Because
Digestion begins in the mouth.
The food needs to be as mushy as possible before it gets to the stomach. Digestive juices in the stomach will work on the food some more to make the particles as tiny as possible so that they can enter into the blood stream. Then they will be taken to feed the cells in your big toe…your little finger, under your arm pit……everywhere!
FACT 2: Eat A Variety of Foods
How can I remember the 5 food groups?
Children Munch Delicious Fruit & Vegetables
Cereal...Meat...Dairy...... Fruit & Vegetables
FACT 3: Eat Different Amounts of Food
How can I remember what foods I should eat 'a lot, some or a little of' ?
Where do they come from?
How much should we eat of them?
Why?
A lot of — These are foods that come from the earth, e.g. fruits and vegetables. We often refer to these as the rainbow foods as they are very colourful.
They are helpful to cleanse the body and provide it with energy. Individually, they don’t contain huge amounts of energy but they are very good for your body.
Some of — These foods come mainly from animals i.e. meats and dairy. Animals have larger energy stores in their body which allows them to move from one place to another.
These foods contain raw materials needed by the body for growth, strong muscles, strong bones, healing and brain power!
A little of — Foods that have been manufactured by men and women usually come in packages. They can contain unnaturally high amounts of fats, sugar and salt (e.g. cakes, lollies, ice-cream).
If we eat too many of these types of 'treat' foods it can create health problems like tooth decay; poor digestion, skin troubles and lack of concentration.
